Gravel is where rallying began... from single day local and regional competitions to multi day rally marathons, both local and international. The concept of long distance rallying in Australia was inspired by the early Redex Reliability Trials of the 1950’s and globally through events like the London - Sydney Marathon.  Today, marathons are still run, many as classic competitions - honouring those great marathons and providing inspiration for the new breed of rally drivers competing in modern national championships.
